On the Pier!

Happy anniversary to my last post ... Lol.

It has been a very exciting year in my real life. My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary and moved into a new house! There as been so much going on, with many ups and a few downs, but thus is the rollercoaster of life. At the beginning of summer we went down to Los Angeles for a vacation and got a few glamour shots of Harbinger in front of the Santa Monica Pier. My first author photo posted on the website was taken by my incredible wife, whom we'll refer to as Mrs. Winter in such posts! Anyway, I said last year that I was hoping to have the Harbinger audiobook and my new novel out, but there were justifiable delays on both fronts. There's only so much time I can devote to the written word when it isn't my main source of income. But, incredible progress has been made! I am now two-thirds done with the Harbinger audiobook and I almost have a complete draft of my brand new novel finished. Just like all my writing, I edit incrementally, so really the first half is on its fourth or fifth edit and the chapters afterwards are on their second or third up to these last few chapters.

It will likely be around 500-550 pages, like Homecoming and Harbinger. It will also be like them in the fact that it will be a duology. The second book will follow the climactic event at the end of this one, but I'm working to still make it feel complete in its own right. At this time, I'm hoping to have both of them out sometime in 2025, but once more, we will see. Not to sound cliche, but as a writer, I feel like 'just the messenger' sometimes. The ideas exist beyond me, I'm just the one tasked with putting them in print. And that duty I feel is not as crucial as others. So, in the words of other creatives: "It'll be out when it's ready."

Hopefully you're voting for Nathan Maxwell in the upcoming election! Luckily, this next story's timeframe won't eclipse me while I'm still working on the audiobook, lol. Here's a quote from Maxwell's victory party that I think fits quite well with my own life at this time: "After everything they’d been through, a long, tumultuous road of trials and sorrows, the great, big, extended family had finally found lasting peace and happiness."

Happy Holidays to all. Here's hoping the next update won't be a year away!
